Trauma-Informed Therapy

Trauma-Informed,
Whole Person Focused

Trauma is often associated with significant losses, terrifying moments, or experiencing extreme pain. Yes, that’s (Big T) Trauma, but trauma (little t) also includes the embarrassment you hold from standing in front of your class and forgetting the words to your presentation. It includes relationship challenges, difficult childhood experiences, losing a job, feeling left out or unwanted, difficulties navigating a world-wide pandemic, and so much more. Dr. Gabor Maté notes that ‘trauma isn’t what happens to you, but what happens inside you’, resulting in a disconnect in your relationship with yourself.

You may be seeking therapy to work on a past wound or to gain support during an ongoing challenge. You feel mentally stuck when the trauma happened, unable to move forward. You may experience uncontrollable trauma responses, including startling easily, difficulty sleeping, preferring to be alone, difficulty with memory, no longer enjoying your hobbies or interests, feeling hopeless about the future, or increased anxiety.

In our work together, I will walk alongside you as we navigate out of your trauma/stress response and into healing and hope for a happier future.

I incorporate evidence-based including EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS), into sessions with clients. These modalities have proven to support the processing and healing of trauma - but our work doesn’t stop there.

I also incorporate mind-body interventions, such as mindfulness, movement, breathing, art, and music, to assist in trauma healing and wellness integration.

"We were hurt in relationship, which means we are going to heal in relationship.”
